Question: How does the circuit locator on the Goliath work?
Answer: When you plug the machine into two different phases the green light should light up. Please note that it requires more than just different circuits rather different phases or legs in the electrical panel. In other words: Same circuit no light, different circuits but same phase dimly lit, and separate phases fully lit.
Basically these are 230 volt light bulb and when it shorts across two phases it give the correct voltage to light up all the way.

Electrical phase tester
The reverse of this technology is used on a power joiner system
