Answer: First of all the 500 psi carpet cleaning portables do not clean at 500 psi. This means the pump read 500 psi when you are not squeezing the trigger on the cleaning wand. When you squeeze the trigger on the wand the pressure will drop to about 300 - 350 psi. This is not enough to "clean" tile floors, rather only enough to "rinse" tile floors. You can use 500 psi machine to rinse tile floors that you already cleaned by prespraying, and prescrubbing the floor first. You need at least a 1000 psi pump to "clean" tile floors.
