Hello,
Thanks for reading and joining in on this thread.
As you know, we manufacture a HYBRID TRUCKMOUNT that requires the use of a Generator.
Our CAT-5 HURRICANE/HTM utilizes a BE brand 9500-Peak Watt/7200-Running Watt Generator.
We chose this GEN because of it's proven track record with STEAM-BRITE and their Customer's who have bought these for Pressure Washer's, Portables and various other uses.
Once we ran it through it's paces, we were very impressed to say the least and knew that we had made the right choice for the C-5H/HTM!
Anyway, one of the many features that comes with using ELEC EQUIP when CARPET CLEANING is the "ECO-FRIENDLY" aspect.
Now...from the very beginning, we knew that the HYBRID would require a fuel source when using the GEN SIDE for power.
We also knew that Propane had already been widely used in many different industries/applications successfully as an alternative power source to Regular Gasoline.
I have actually communicated with a few people who have already ran this mod on their GEN's and they say that they could not be happier with the results!
For V-TECH, just knowing that our Customer's have the option of converting their system to run on both GAS and PROPANE has been a HUGE BLESSING for many reasons:
1.) Though we make a HYBRID that requires a Fuel source, the option to use a "CLEAN"/"GREEN" fuel source is available...helping us stay "In-Line" with the "GREEN-THEME" behind Electric Carpet Cleaning!
2.) IT IS SIMPLY BETTER FOR THE ENVIROMENT...I HAPPEN TO HAVE CHILDREN and WANT THEM TO HAVE A "CLEAN"/"GREEN" PLANET TO LIVE IN!
3.) It improves the PERFORMANCE of the GEN!
4.) Does not "gum-up" the cylinders!
5.) It does burn at about the same rate as GAS, but you can store more in a comparable container and by "Rule-Of-Thumb", it generally cost up to 30% less than GAS!
NO NOXIOUS FUMES!!!!
There are many videos on You-Tube that discuss this issue and show just how fast and easy it is to install a Propane Conversion Kit.
Here's are some examples:
In the 3rd vise link, note the difference in the sound of the GEN vs. GAS.
It seems as if he has split the loads evenly in the GEN as well!
The best deal I have found on a conversion kit is $187.00, that was for a Tri-Fuel Conversion (Ng, LP and Gas.), the one that allows you to use both Gas and Propane was strangely more at $227.00.
At any rate, NG does not deliver the same performance as LP and GAS....I'd still get the Tri-Fuel though and save the money!
I'm not trying to "PUSH" Propane on anyone, I'm really just wanting to raise awareness as to the benefits of using LP.
One more thing...knowing that LP burns hotter, it may be best to use GAS on days that are extremely hot?
To help maintain the performance and life of your GEN, we do include an additional Cooling Fan in the rear of the Unit! (120-CFMS of COOL CIRCULATING AIR!)
Please share any of your experiences and/or thoughts on this subject.
I happen to have an appointment with one of the Directors of Ferrell Gas Co. this Wednesday and have been invited to Drive a Dodge Charger that has been converted to run on LP. They are actually taking the Car from state to state to show off the benefits of running on Propane!
I will also make a video documenting the comments of the LP Specialist and post on You-Tube.
Thank-YOU!
