Question: Hi there, I had a question about the steambrite 6-30r inverter, would I be able to run a heater off the inverter for garage purposes, I am not able to add a 220 outlet on to my circuit breaker the heaters wattage is 5600 and about 240v/208V~. I have numerous 20 amp outlets in the garage to run the inverter to. Any solutions would be appreciated thanks.
Answer: You have to be able to turn the heater down to under 4000 watts. Hopefully you have a low setting to be able to use this converter. Please provide the model number of your heater for a better answer. Some heaters are all on and then thermostatically turn off. If this is the case, it will not work. If the heating element has a low energy consuming level when on, it will work. Kind of like owning a 4 slice toaster but only turning on 2 slices when you do turn it on. Hopefully this makes sense. Also in order to work these 20 amp breakers need to be on different phases of current, not just different breakers.
