Question: What is the big deal about Ametek vacuum motor with 1500 hour rated brushes and anti-moisture air seals?
What makes this so special?

Answer: Vacuum motor have been around for a long, long time with hundreds of different configuration in size of blades, number of stages, amp draw, voltage, etc...
The problem is a lot of these motor have been used in the carpet cleaning, water extraction, and auto scrubber world of cleaning equipment and almost everybody in this industry picks up cleaners that contain degreasers. As careful as you can be, it is impossible to say you never accidentally over fill your vacuum recovery tank and suck a little (or a lot) of water and or foam into and through the vacuum motors. These motors spin at the 21,000 rpm and up range and have bearing between the spinning air gulping blades and the electrical motor section of the vacuum motor. Repeated foam / water / degreaser washing of this bearing has caused the grease to get washed out of this bearing and causes the motor to fail and void the manufacturer's warranty. The carbon brushes that run on the armature also in the past last between 500 to 750 hours, and sometimes even 1000 hours of run time. Both these issues have been fixed with this new series of vacuum motors. The third improvement was the addition of a conical or cone shaped vacuum motor bottom. This allows the first blade to gulp a larger amount of air and squeeze and sling the air through the stages improving both the cfm and inches of water lift. Please remember amp draw is king. So bottom line is the more electricity a vacuum motor uses and consumes the harder it works and the better it performs.

Please note that if you are upgrading your vacuum system, it is not always better or best to add more amp draw to your machine or design. You can overload the total amp draw and stress out the power cords and outlet from your job site.

Answer: Hybrid means: "a thing made by combining two different elements; a mixture and of mixed character; composed of mixed parts."
Ametek made the Mytee C347 and C348 motors that contain all the upgrades, longer brush life, water resistant bearings, conical bottom, and more amp draw.

FYI, the original use of the term hybrid definition in biology, "the offspring of two plants or animals of different species or varieties, such as a mule (a hybrid of a donkey and a horse)."
