  • aQUATEC 170 PSI PUMP FAILED AFTER 2 1/2 HOURS.

    Hi,
Has anyone else had issues with these pumps.
My last pump was replaced after a few weeks use.
The on demand switch packed up first, then a couple of weeks later the thing packed up altogether.
I replaced it with a new unit yesterday.
Tested it today on a job and it failed after 2 1/2 hours use.
When I returned to base I tried it and it ran fine.
I presume the thermals tripped it.
The on demand switch was not working and the pump was running constantly so I presume this is the reason for the thermal trip.
I`m just not sure wheter i`ve been unlucky or are these pumps inferior quality?
I have previously used various Shurflo pumps and have never experienced such reliability issues.
I`m sure the supplier will rectify but have there been any dud batches reported?
    Is it a common fault?
Obviously a pump is useless unless it will run for hours at a time.
    Thanks.

water pump turns off after it gets hot

I have noticed that some of the machines also need a 120 volt cooling fan installed. I had some rental machines that we upgraded to these pumps and had the same issue until we installed the cooling fans. The higher pressure make the electric motor work harder and hotter. That combined with possible summer temperatures means the thermo overload might kick the pump off after a couple of hours.

      Hi,
It`s not exactly warm in the U.K. and it`s a 240 volt supply here.
No way would I go to that trouble.

i found the same problem they over heat and trip out so i binned mine and stuck with shurflo they never give any problems have few that are on there 6th year now only one stopped cos the brushes where worn. also running hotter water I notice performance drop and life too we use lpg or diesel inline heater so we just run normal tap water temps .
just wish shurflo made higher psi pumps

Got to agree ive had two and the pressure is great but they just don`t seem reliable.
Why set the thermals so low that you can`e do a job?

            aquatec pumps are getting hot

It is my understanding that the factory is changing all the thermos from 170 degrees to 195 to solve the problem.

Well that would more than likely solve the problem.
Looks like this pump will need to go back again then.
