  • Powrflite Black Max Carpet Cleaning Pumps keeps turning off

Question: Powrflite Black Max Carpet Cleaning Pumps keeps turning off when I am using my machine. Does it have a warranty for this?

Answer Please note the machines water pump head is rated for 800 psi but the electric motor that turns the head is rated for 400 psi continuous. This means that while you can turn the electric motor up past 400 psi you will be stressing the motor out. I have had more than one customer have problems with the pump motors getting hot and this in turns causes the electric motor to turn off because of the build in thermol overload protection. Naturally when the motor cools back down the pump can be turned on again. I have also had customer add an additional cooling fan blowing directly on the electric motor. Customer do not realize that they look at the factory specs during the purchase and it displays it will clean at pressures up to 500 psi, but one you get the machine and read the owners manual you will notice the factory states not to turn the water pump up past 400 psi. The factory would not warranty the pump for issue for turning the machine past 400 psi.
