I was in the cleaning business for 10 years as a worker. My friend and I are planning on starting a post construction cleaning business, but I have been out of the business for so long that I am not sure what the going rate is or how to charge my perspective customers. I live in the PA area and at one point I did try to get a residential cleaning service started but there are not many people in this area that want their house cleaned so I figured with all the housing construction going on in the area that would be a better area to start in. Can someone tell me where I would go or what I can do to find out the going rate for this type of business.

Janitorial cleaning rates
commercial cleaning rates are about half of retail. If you where charging $45 to $55 an hour to clean homes ($.12 per sq ft), expect to only to be able to charge about $22.50 - $27.50 per hour ($.06 per sq ft) for new construction and wait 30 days to get paid. You will need to have both types of customers.
